Privacy policy
Last updated 22 October 2026. Dot Infy, an Australian business, runs Fair Pay Calculator. This policy covers what the Fair Pay Calculator website does with information about you, which is very little. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
The short version
- The numbers you type stay on your device. We never see them.
- There are no accounts, no tracking, no advertising and no analytics.
- We don't sell your information, and we don't use it to market to you.
- Our web host keeps ordinary server logs. If you email us, we keep the email so we can answer it.
- If you pick light or dark mode, your browser remembers the choice. That setting never leaves your device.
What stays on your device
The pay calculator, the pay check, the roster check, the Family Tax Benefit estimate and the PDF report all run in your browser. Salaries, hours, shifts, amounts paid, staff names, ages, partner details and children you enter are never sent to us. They aren't saved on a server, and they aren't saved in your browser either. Close or refresh the page and they're gone.
That also means we can't look up, fix or delete what you entered, because we never had it.
What we do handle
| Information | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Server logs: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, and your browser and device type | To keep the site running, fix faults and spot attacks | Our web host |
| Emails you send us: your address, your name if you give it, and your message | To reply to you | Our inbox and email provider |
| Your theme choice (light or dark) | So the site looks the way you picked next time | Your browser only |
We don't set cookies. The only things we store in your browser are your theme choice and, to save you retyping, your last pay check. See the cookies and storage page for how to clear them. We don't run third-party scripts, tracking pixels or fingerprinting, and the fonts load from this site, so no outside company sees your visit through us.
Some browsers send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. We don't track anyone, so there's nothing for the signal to switch off.
Who else is involved
- Hostinger hosts this site on servers in Indonesia. Your server log entries may therefore be held outside Australia. Hostinger's own privacy policy covers what it does with them, and we chose a host that publishes one.
- Voice (Dot): If you press the microphone in the Dot helper, your browser's own speech service hears you and may send the audio to its maker. We never receive it. Replies read aloud use your device's voice. Typed questions stay in your browser.
- We link to the ATO, the Fair Work Ombudsman and other sites. Once you follow a link, that site's policy applies and we can't speak for it.
- We'll hand information to a court, regulator or police officer if the law requires it. We'll tell you first where we're allowed to.
We don't sell, rent or trade personal information. The figures on this site come from automatic calculations on what you type. Nobody builds a profile of you, and no decision about you is made from the results.
How long we keep things
- Server logs: whatever period our host sets, usually a few weeks.
- Emails: until we've dealt with your question and any follow-up, then we delete them.
- Theme choice: until you clear your browser data.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS and sends security headers that stop other sites from framing it or running scripts in it. Because we hold no user database and no pay data, there's very little to lose in a breach. We keep the site's files up to date and limit who can change them.
No website is perfectly secure. If we ever hold personal information and a breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires. We'd also post a notice on the site.
Children and young people
People under 18 can use Fair Pay Calculator to check junior rates. The age they type stays in the browser like everything else. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian tells us a child emailed us, we'll delete that email.
Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Email info@fairpaycalculator.com.au. We'll reply within 30 days, and we may need to confirm who you are first.
- Ask us to delete emails you sent. We'll do it unless the law says we must keep them.
- Complain. Email info@fairpaycalculator.com.au first. We'll acknowledge your complaint, look into it and answer in writing within 30 days. If you aren't happy with the answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
A new version applies from the date at the top. If we change something that affects you, we'll put a notice on the home page for at least 30 days. If we ever add accounts, analytics or anything else that collects personal information, we'll update this policy and tell you what changes before the feature goes live. Using the site after a change doesn't count as agreeing to something we hadn't told you about.
