Australian income percentile calculator
Wondering where your income sits compared with other Australians? Enter your taxable income and see which percentile you fall in. The percentile tells you what share of taxable Australians earn less than you. The figures come from the Australian Taxation Office taxation statistics, which split every individual who lodged a return into 100 equal groups by taxable income.
Income by percentile
Each row shows the lowest taxable income in that group. For example, the 50th percentile is the middle of the distribution: half of taxable Australians earn less.

What taxable income means
Taxable income is your income after deductions, so it is usually lower than your salary. If you only know your salary, use the take-home pay calculator, which works out your taxable income and shows where you sit.
Common questions
Is this the same as my salary?
Not quite. The statistics use taxable income, which is income after deductions. Someone on the same salary with large deductions will sit lower.
Which year is the data from?
The most recent full year published by the ATO that we have loaded, shown under the table. It is updated when a new release comes out.
Does it include people who do not lodge a return?
No. It covers individuals who lodged a tax return, so people with no taxable income are not in the groups.
Is this financial advice?
No. It is general information from published statistics.
