Check a roster before payroll
Type or paste a week of shifts and see which are paid below the award, before they turn into a back-pay claim. It works out junior rates by age, weekly overtime, casual minimum shifts, apprentice rates and split shifts for hospitality, restaurant, fast food, retail, pharmacy, security, clerks, fitness, aged care, children's services and cleaning. Nothing leaves your browser.
1. Add the shifts
One row per shift. Type them in, paste rows from a spreadsheet into any name cell, or upload a CSV. The age column gives juniors their rate; leave it blank for adults.
2. Enter what you paid
Put the amount paid for each shift before tax. Weekly overtime is worked out across all of a person's shifts, so include the whole week.
3. Fix what is short
Staff with shifts below the award show first, with the shortfall per shift. Treat a shortfall as a prompt to check, not a finding.

What to know
- Names stay on your device. The check runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us. Only enter details about staff if you are entitled to hold them, for example as their employer or payroll officer.
- This is an estimate. It is not legal, tax or financial advice. Your award, agreement and contracts decide what you owe. The notes on what we cover list what is not included, such as trainees, rostered days off and most allowances.
- Rates change on 1 July. The result shows when the rates were last checked:
- Spreadsheet format. Columns are: name, type (casual, parttime or fulltime), date (YYYY-MM-DD), start (HH:MM), hours, unpaid break in minutes, amount paid, public holiday (ph or blank), level, rostered hours, age, second start, second hours. Download the template above the results to see an example.
- Is a worker checking their own pay? The pay checker is built for that.
