Child Care Subsidy calculator

Estimate your Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and what you pay after it. The rates are for the 2026-27 subsidy year, from 6 July 2026. They come from the Department of Education and Services Australia figures as reported by several summaries, because those sites block automated checks, so confirm them on the Services Australia site before you rely on them. The subsidy is paid to your provider, who takes it off the fee. This page is general information, not advice.

Since January 2026 every family gets at least 72 subsidised hours a fortnight for each child (the 3 Day Guarantee). You can get up to 100 hours if you and your partner each do more than 48 hours of recognised activity a fortnight, or have an exemption. Hours are counted for each child. Holding back some subsidy (5% is common) avoids a bill at tax time. Whatever is held back comes back when your tax is worked out.

The subsidy is worked out on the lower of the fee you are charged and the hourly rate cap, so anything above the cap is paid in full by you. There is no yearly cap on the subsidy. Not included: the Additional Child Care Subsidy, the in home care family limit and gap fee rules for particular providers.
